Welcome to 2025. We look forward to sharing our insights with you each month.
From the Chair
On behalf the Trialsafe Board, a Happy New Year! Welcome to our first newsletter for 2025. I hope everyone was able to find time to recharge, both physically and mentally as we begin to focus on the year ahead.
In planning for the next 12 months, it is important that we look back to what worked well and what learnings we can take from that which didn’t. At Trialsafe, we will also be taking stock of 2024 to ensure we can continue to provide you, our members, with valuable insights, links and shares that will help you on your continuous improvement safety journey.
A vital element to our internal reflection is your feedback, so please reach out and let us know where we can support and provide value to you or your business.

Best Practice – Chemical Transportation
Everyone transporting farm chemicals has a duty of care: a responsibility to
carry out their tasks in a manner which will not cause harm or injury to themselves, other people, their property, animals or the environment.
The Agsafe Industry Standard is a comprehensive set of guidelines and best practices that ensure the safe handling, storage, transport, and sale of agricultural and veterinary (AgVet) chemicals in Australia. Developed through close consultation with regulatory bodies, industry experts, and Agsafe members, the Standard serves as the foundation for maintaining compliance across the AgVet chemical supply chain. It applies to retailers, distributors, logistics companies, and manufacturers who are involved in the sale and distribution of these chemicals, helping businesses meet both federal and state legislative requirements.
You can find a digital copy of the standard by following the link below.

Fire Extinguisher Selection
Selecting the right fire extinguisher is crucial for ensuring safety and controlling the spread of potentially devastating fires as quickly as possible. Here are some key factors to consider when assessing your extinguisher requirements:
- Type of Fire: Different extinguishers are designed for different types of fires. Some extinguishers can be used in multiple scenarios, whereas others are only suitable for one specific type of fire. You can access the FSA extinguisher selection chart here.
- Size and Location: The size of the area and the potential fire size will determine the size and number of extinguishers needed. Ensure they are easily accessible and visible.
- Compliance: Make sure the extinguishers comply with relevant Australian Standards (AS2444 and AS1851).
- Maintenance: Regular maintenance and inspections are essential to ensure the extinguishers are in good working condition.
